Epiroc AB, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has won a large order for mining equipment for a major copper mine in Peru. The mine is operated by a consortium comprising leading Chinese investment companies and a globally recognised mining company headquartered in Australia, which also serves as the mine operator. The customer ordered a fleet of Pit Viper 351 surface blasthole drill rigs to support the mineโs expansion. Epiroc will also supply drilling tools and spare parts, together with on-site technical services, field support and specialised training programmes, to ensure maximum performance of this large-scale mining operation.
Order Booked in 2Q26
The mining equipment order is valued at around SEK 210 million and was booked in 2Q26. Delivery of the equipment is expected to begin at the end of this year and continue through the first half of 2027. The Pit Viper 351 drill rig is built to work hard and last long. It comes equipped with Epirocโs Rig Control System (RCS) operating platform, making it ready for automation. The machine is setting the bar for productivity and reliability when large blastholes are part of the mining production plan.
Long-Term Support for the Peruvian Operation
Epiroc has provided the mine in Peru with advanced drilling equipment for around a decade. Helena Hedblom, Epirocโs President and CEO, said, โEpiroc has provided this mine in Peru with advanced drilling equipment for around a decade now, and we look forward to continue supporting this major copper producer to optimise its safety, productivity and total cost of ownership,โ as the company prepares to supply the Pit Viper 351 fleet, drilling tools, spare parts, technical services, field support and specialised training programmes for the mineโs expansion.
Automation-Ready Mining Equipment
The Pit Viper 351 surface blasthole drill rigs will provide automation-ready mining equipment through the Rig Control System (RCS) operating platform. Combined with drilling tools, spare parts and on-site support, the equipment package is intended to support the major copper mineโs expansion and maintain the performance of its large-scale mining operation.
