The Egyptian minister of petroleum and mineral resources, Karem Badawi, held a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s deputy minister of industry and mineral resources for mining affairs, Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, along with his accompanying delegation in order to explore avenues when it comes to cooperation between the two countries within the mining sector and also promote sustainable development, which happens to serve their shared economic interests. With Egypt and Saudi Arabia exploring mining cooperation opportunities, new prospects are indeed on the horizon.

During the meeting, Badawi went on to review recent steps so as to advance the mining sector in Egypt, highlighting the efforts of the ministry to create an attractive investment environment that is built on transparent legislation and a very competitive climate. He underscored numerous strategic projects, foremost among them was the phosphoric acid project, which happens to reflect the commitment of Egypt to maximize the value added from its mineral resources.

The minister also went on to praise the organization of the international mining conference in Saudi Arabia, thereby expressing his interest in learning from the kingdom’s successful experience within the mining sector development. He also pointed out the promising potential that Southern Egypt has, wherein the preparations are already underway in order to conduct certain seismic surveys, which would lead to identifying new exploration along with investment opportunities.

For his part, Khalid Al-Mudaifer went on to express his pleasure in terms of attending the Egypt Mining Forum and recommended a strong turnout, even a high level of engagement from certain industry stakeholders. He emphasized the prominent shared potential when it comes to Egypt and Saudi Arabia within the mining field, underscoring that the geographical proximity of the two countries happens to create enormous opportunities for greater integration along with collaboration with certain international partners. Egypt and Saudi Arabia Exploring Mining Cooperation is a great news for the region as it will set the tone for sustainable development and employment opportunities too.

Al-Mudaifer further went on to praise the serious efforts that have been put in by Egypt in order to develop its mining sector, thereby highlighting that the Red Sea region is indeed a promising destination that is capable of attracting worldwide investments and also strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
