Caltta Technologies and Radiocom Holding Group have completed the deployment of a multi-site DMR Enhanced Communication System (ECS) for a key mining group in Uzbekistan, strengthening communications across geographically dispersed mining operations.

The deployment establishes a connected mining communications infrastructure designed to support field personnel, vehicles, dispatch teams and emergency responders across complex operating environments. Caltta delivered the project with Radiocom Holding Group, its local partner in Uzbekistan.

Multi-Site DMR System Connects Mining Areas

The system addresses communications requirements associated with large-scale mining operations, where open pits, underground workings, transport routes and processing facilities can span extensive areas with varying terrain and operating conditions.

Caltta and Radiocom implemented an IP-based architecture that connects separate mining areas, allowing communications resources to be coordinated across sites through a common system. The setup is also designed to support future expansion as the mining group’s operational footprint develops.

The deployment integrates field radio communications with centralized dispatch capabilities. Caltta’s PD200 dispatch platform provides the control centre with real-time GPS location information, call recording and operational event logging, giving dispatch personnel greater visibility of vehicles and field teams.

The infrastructure also includes PR900 digital repeaters, while PM790 mobile radios are deployed for transport and patrol teams and PH690 portable radios support personnel working in field environments.

Additional system capabilities include AI-based noise cancellation, emergency calling and man-down alerts. Dynamic channel allocation and load balancing are incorporated to help manage network resources and reduce the risk of communications congestion.

The combination of these capabilities gives the mining operation a more coordinated mining communications environment across its separate working areas, supporting communication between mobile teams and centralized operational functions.

Architecture Designed for Future Expansion

A key feature of the deployment is its scalability. The IP-connected architecture allows additional mining areas, shafts, pits and processing facilities to be incorporated as the operation expands without requiring a fundamental redesign of the communications network.

This gives the operator a communications platform that can develop alongside changing mine infrastructure and operational requirements. The system also provides a foundation for further digital transformation initiatives where reliable communications are required across dispersed industrial environments.

Radiocom Holding Group supported the project through local market knowledge, implementation expertise and project support in Uzbekistan. Caltta supplied the DMR platform and communications technology used in the deployment.

The completed project adds mining communications infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity and coordination across the mining group’s operations while providing a scalable framework for future development.

The deployment also strengthens the cooperation between Caltta and Radiocom and could support further communications projects across Uzbekistan’s mining, energy and heavy-industry sectors. For mining operators working across complex sites, integrated mining communications systems are becoming an increasingly important part of the wider operational infrastructure.
